Interaction Design 02: GRPH 325
Fall 2015
Interaction Design II: Interactive Storytelling
Digital storytelling is narrative entertainment that reaches its audience via digital technology. One of its unique characteristics is interactivity — or the back and forth communication between audience and narrative. It is a huge and rapidly growing field (at least 11 major areas) that includes video games, content designed for the internet, mobile devices and apps, interactive television, smart toys, interactive cinema, immersive environments and electronic kiosks.
In this class we will examine 4 of the fastest changing industries that are being affected by digital storytelling: education, journalism, branding and entertainment. Students will create three projects that demonstrate the basic fundamental processes necessary for all digital storytelling.
Transmedia interactivity requires a robust technological understanding. Students will review and expand their knowledge of HTML and CSS while experimenting with new concepts including JavaScript, JQuery and virtual reality.
